Production Process
1. Polymer Feeding & Melting
Polymer granules (typically polypropylene, polyester, or other thermoplastic materials) are fed into an extruder. The material is heated and melted under controlled temperature to form a homogeneous polymer melt.
2. Melt Filtration & Metering
The molten polymer passes through a filtration system to remove impurities, then is precisely metered and delivered to the spin beam. Consistent metering ensures uniform filament formation.
3. Spinning (Extrusion Through Spinnerets)
The polymer melt is forced through a spinneret plate containing hundreds to thousands of fine holes, forming multiple continuous filaments. Cooling air is applied immediately to solidify the emerging filaments.
4. Attenuation (Drawing by High‑Speed Air)
The solidified filaments are drawn and refined by high‑velocity, controlled air streams. This step significantly reduces filament diameter, aligns molecular orientation, and enhances fiber strength.
5. Web Formation
The drawn filaments are dispersed and laid randomly onto a moving conveyor belt (forming wire) by an aerodynamic system. A uniform, unbonded web is created, with its weight (GSM) determined by polymer throughput and conveyor speed.
6. Bonding
The loose fiber web is consolidated into a coherent fabric. The method is thermal calendering, where the web passes through heated rolls (often embossed) that bond fibers at contact points.
7. Winding & Finishing
The bonded fabric is edge‑trimmed, inspected for defects, and wound into large jumbo rolls. Additional finishing treatments such as corona treatment (for improved adhesion), coating, laminating, or slitting can be performed inline or offline.
